I have been a part of Student Government since my freshmen year in high school, it’s something I take great pride in doing and enjoy being a voice for my fellow classmates. I joined the sorority Alpha Phi my freshmen year of college and is a big part of the reason I am so involved at Drake University and in the Des Moines community. After traveling with Alternative Spring Break down to Biloxi, Mississippi I helped create a Student United Way on Drake’s campus and it has really developed into a dominant organization on campus, it’s something I am very proud to be a part of a look forward to grow even more these next two years.

I enjoy traveling around the world to see how different cultures grasp life and what they do on a day to day basis. My first trip abroad was with the organization People to People where I was a student ambassador and traveled between Ireland, Scotland and London for the summer, it was an amazing experience and knew I wanted to find what else the world had to offer. I then traveled to Costa Rica with Younglife a Christian organization through my high school where we renovated a church, house, and a built a campsite for locals to attend. I also studied abroad to Uganda for a summer and was one of the most eye opening experiences I have ever had, it made me appreciate life and get a real handle on where I want to take my life.

I attended a Leadership conference through Principal Financial Group last summer and enjoyed all the opportunities that came with it and all the people I was able to meet by attending the conference. That when Leadership Iowa University was presented to me through my internship it seemed like a great step in the future I want to be a part of. I am both excited and nervous on the things that I will learn and experience this week with Leadership Iowa University. I look forward to meeting each and every person as well as grow the relationships with my fellow classmates in Leadership Iowa University.
