Class of 2009-2010

Mary Miranda Okraku

Wartburg College

I am Miranda Okraku and I hail from Accra, Ghana. Accra is a big city of two million people. I am 20 years of age and come from a very small family of 6 including parents. I have a wonderful sister and two amazing brothers. I am the youngest and I  pride myself in that because being the last helps you learn from your siblings’ mistakes so you do not have to repeat them. I am a 3rd year biology Major, with a minor in Psychology and Leadership Certificate at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa.  Science is my passion because I love learning about the human body. I see myself as a very curious person and I believe Science is a part of everything around us. Aspire to be a medical doctor and also be involved in research and finding cures for diseases.

I am involved in quite a number of activities on campus. I am the treasurer (2009-2010) of the International Club in Wartburg College. I also tutor a variety of Math courses for students who need help in Math. Further, I am an associate member of Tri Beta, the honor society for Biology. I enjoy getting involved in a lot of community service activities. On a normal day, I like to kick back and relax, watch movies and talk to friends. The first thing people would notice about me when they meet me is my laugh.
