College of Human Resources - YOU!
Amanda Sieve
At first I was not sure what to expect with the starting time of LIU. I have a hard time being outgoing especially in a crowd of people I do not know and feel inferior to, even if my assumption of inferiority is misconstrued. After the first day of LIU, I am extremely excited to see what the week has to offer. I am disappointed that I have to miss the activities tomorrow for a mandatory nursing registration and orientation back in Carroll, but that is also extremely important as I start the program on Aug 26. The speakers we have had today were excellent and gave a lot of valuable insight but I just have to figure out a way to step outside of my comfort zone to truly open the door to all the possibilities this week has to offer.
I am here to learn, not only to grow myself but to figure out ways to help others grow as one day I hope to be in a leadership position in the nursing field. If I am able to step outside my comfort zone, the networking possibilities this week could make a huge difference in the upcoming years and open many doors. But I have to figure out how to push myself to that point.
I enjoy looking at quotes of what leadership is to others because there truly is no right or wrong answer. Leadership to me is the people we look up to, to provide direction and insight while utilizing others skills and talents. Those who are great leaders in my opinion are those who can get the job done but can also relate to those they are leading to get the best results from the employees as possible.
