College of Human Resources - YOU!
Jonathan Sukup
Coming to LIU, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. I attended Business Horizons in 2006, so I knew there would be a number of really good speakers throughout the week, but I wasn’t quite sure how LIU would be different. I was definitely interested in going over the Strengths Finder data and not only reviewing what my strengths are but seeing what other people are strong in and how the different personalities interact.
Now that I am here, I am excited for the different tours that have been lined up so we can see the opportunities that are available in Iowa. Today’s sessions were extremely informative. The Strength Finder session did not disappoint. It was fascinating to hear the ways one “strength” would apply differently to each person. Tomorrow is focused mainly around government in Iowa. We have the opportunity to tour the capitol and speak with a couple of officials. Overall, it looks like it is going to be a great week, so we will see what happens!

I also really enjoyed the Strengths Finder assessment. I think this will help us through the week when we have to work on teams and in group projects to help define the roles each person should take. Also, I thought it was really cool to learn about all of the 34 themes because now I can look around at my peers and identify qualities they possess to try to seek the best roles for them in groupwork. Loved this session!
