Iowa State University
I was raised in southern California, I am a huge Vikings football fan, I brush my teeth with warm water, I hate wearing socks, and I can twitch my nose like a rabbit. This next fall I am going to be a sophomore at Iowa State University and could not be more excited! College has really opened my eyes to so many opportunities and let me grow as my own individual person- which is a wonderful feeling! I am currently majoring in Pre-Dietetics and Exercise, but who knows what my end major will be since I have already changed my major once. But as my parents’ always say “Take this time to find out what you are passionate about and do it”. Something that I found out that I excel at is event planning and management. I discovered my talent by joining multiple organizations: Freshmen Council, VEISHEA, and Dance Marathon. Being so involved has really broadened my leadership experience- to the point where I enjoy being involved almost more than school! But when I am not at meetings, events, or doing homework, I love watching the Bachelorette with my girl-friends, long distance running, having silly dance parties, watching funny YouTube videos, jumping off bridges (into rivers),and eating pepperoni slices.
"UnEARTHing Iowa"
Our first stop was at the State Capitol, and it was amazing! I had never been into a state building like that before and not only was the architecture exquisite but the knowledge that was shared with me during our visit was just as priceless. From talking to Nicole Molt during our round-table discussion I found out that I am highly interested in becoming a lobbyist! What I took from Nicole's discussion on her job was that it was a lot of hard work, long hours, fast-paced and highly gratifying; all qualities of a great job!
College of Human Resources - YOU!
The greatest asset that I possess that will be beneficial to the Iowa workforce would be my positive outlook on life next to my love for meeting new people. In any given situation I love finding the good that come out of it. My outlook is that if you think and act in a positive way then positive events will take place. Makes sense, right? Because if you are a crabby person to be around then no one will want to spend time with you, work with you, or help you reach your goals. And if you are positive then that also leads you to meeting new people, which is my next strength. Meeting new people brings so much richness and value into your life- it is truly a wonderful experience each and every time you talk to someone new. Every person has different outlooks on life and different opinions-and they are all valuable. And that knowledge that they bring to your life is a great reason to be excited when making connections with new people!
